Renewable Energy Solutions is a division of Eddisbury Construction Company Limited, set up to add value to new and existing customers homes and businesses by installing Solar Panels to provide cheaper hot water. These solar panels collect radiation from the Sun and harness this free, inexhaustable or renewable, energy source to heat water.

A popular misconception is that the Sun has to be shining for the panels to work. This is not true as it is radiation from the Sun that is harnessed, not sunlight. The UK and Ireland receive more than enough solar radiation to make a solar hot water system a viable prospect. We receive about 65% of the solar radiation levels experienced in Spain, and about 55% of that at the equator.

Solar Panels or Solar Collectors

The images above show that solar panels can be installed on flat roofs, both flat on the roof and on A-Frames. We have two types of solar panels, flat plate collectors as shown above, or evacuated tube collectors as seen below. Our trained sales staff will advise you on the number of flat panels or evacuated tube collectors your particular home or business requires. This will also determine what capacity hot water cylinder is most appropriate for you.

Solar Hot Water Systems - Energy Savings and Payback Period

Using the sun as a renewable energy source helps the environment, leads to reduced energy bills and means less reliance on gas and electricity for water heating.

In the summer months a solar hot water system can produce up to 100% of your hot water requirements, in spring and autumn up to 50% and in winter 15-30% of your hot water needs.

In total, this equates to 50-70% on the annual hot water requirements of the average UK household provided by solar energy. This is a huge saving and especially attractive in the light of increasing gas and electricity bills, where suppliers are announcing huge price increases of 15%, 25% and even more!

Because payback depends on so many variables, it is difficult to predict. These include factors such as future energy prices, rate of consumption, future weather patterns, whether your solar hot water system is supplementing an existing gas or electric boiler and many more. The payback period could be between eight and fifteen years, but imagine effectively halving your annual energy bill now!

Also, a solar hot water system will immediately add equity value to homes and businesses.
